Vintage Neighborhoods

Beyond the historic districts, Greensboro’s other older neighborhoods are diverse in history, ambiance and home prices. Click on the links for pre-1940 homes listed for sale in these neighborhoods:

  • West of Downtown: Westerwood, Sunset Hills, Lindley Park, Starmount Forest and Hamilton Lakes form a string of 1920s and ’30s neighborhoods stretching west from downtown along Market Street and Friendly Avenue;
  • North of Downtown: Irving Park, Latham Park and Kirkwood form a cluster of classic neighborhoods lying north of Wendover Avenue between Battleground Avenue and Elm Street;
  • East and South of Downtown: The Asheboro Community, Cumberland, Glenwood and Piedmont Heights, among other neighborhoods, were initially built out in the first decades of the 20th century and still contain many older homes;
  • Southside is a downtown neighborhood combining historic older homes and newer houses, townhouses and apartments;
  • Sedgefield is a classic golf course community developed in the 1930s, lying at the southwestern edge of the city; and
  • Elsewhere in Greensboro, classic homes are found in neighborhoods around the city, including the Brice Street, Lamrocton and McAdoo Heights neighborhoods.
  • In Guilford County, older homes are scattered throughout the countryside and such smaller towns as Gibsonville, Jamestown, Oak Ridge, Pleasant Garden and Whitsett.
